Seattle-based singer/songwriter Steven Cristol blends the timeless acoustic folk pop traditions of James Taylor and Paul Simon with the rootsier influences of Alison Krauss and Brandi Carlile. In early days in Los Angeles, his songs were recorded by chart-topping artists such as the legendary Harry Belafonte, Grace Slick and Starship, Little River Band, and appeared in two long-running television series. After years of putting words in the mouths of other artists, his new album —    Soul of a Dream — claims his own space and is punctuated with personal journeys, social commentary, and love songs. 

Beyond his writing, Steven is on a mission to be a “conservatory” for classic songs of the great singer/songwriters from the mid-60’s through the late ’70’s — an extraordinary period of poetic introspection, social consciousness, and unforgettable melodies. His solo performances include a mix of his own songs and ever-popular folk rock classics from some of his major influences, including Simon & Garfunkel, James Taylor, Carole King, Jackson Browne, Neil Young, Richard Thompson, Gordon Lightfoot, The Beatles, and an occasional nod to the Great American Songbook of the Tin Pan Alley era.
